I have exported all the emails from Windows Live Mail, but cannot import them to thunderbird. The message I get is "No mailboxes were found to import" but I know they are there.

In what form are your W.Live mailboxes saved? Do you use The ImportExportTools add-on ?

Here is a link how to Import / export

I have found my Windows Live Mail emails, they are all in .eml format, but I cannot get them from the folder in to Thunderbird. I have tried importing with and without the importexporttools add-on. I have hundreds of emails I need to import and although one of the folders is now showing in Thunderbird the emails are not in the folder. I need a step by step instruction I am using Windows 10.

Thanks

  • Create an empty folder (fx IMP) in Local Folders
  • While standing on IMP right click and open ImportExportTool
  • Choose Import all messages from a directory
  • Find your directory with all .eml-files. (It will NOT show the .eml as you'r looking for a directory).

Thats it
