Thunderbird refuses to recognize my password - I have checked with bigpond and the password that I am eetering is correct - where is the problem and solution?
I have installed a new computer with Windows 10 and Thunderbird to handle my email. T'bird refuses to recognise my password, although bigpond confirms that I am entering it correctly. T'bird claims the problem is with big pond: " Mail server mail.bigpond.com responded: pop operation is not allowed for this user." Bigpond's "technical adviser" had no expertise in Thunderbird. and suggested that I should uninstall T'bird and install Outlook Express. I understand that OE has problems with Windows 10, so am reluctant to take that course. Any suggestions?

What indicates that this is a password issue? I would expect that kind of problem would give you a more direct error message.
Did the Bigpond advisor point you to the full mail settings for your account?
When I search this error, there are threads mentioning that newer Telstra accounts using a different server address and may also need to have POP enabled in the account (example: https://crowdsupport.telstra.com.au/t.../465232). However, since there are older and newer settings, it's probably best to log into your account in a browser to double-check the settings it specifies for mail programs.
