I have Firefox v. 46.0.1

When making a purchase on Second Life, I get this notice:

"Your browser is using an inadequate level of security. Second Life's web cashier and our payment partners will require TLS 1.2 effective June 15th, 2016. You will not be able to make payments after that date without upgrading your web browser, viewer, or internet security software. Please visit this blog post for more information on upgrading your software."

AFAIK this version is the latest version available in Firefox. Can you advise me, please?

Thank you Debby

hi, firefox supports TLS1.2 so i'm not sure why you get this message.

could you go to the firefox menu ≡ > help ? > troubleshooting information, copy the contents of that page and paste them here into a reply on the forum? this might give us a clue what is going on...

Hi Philipp. Thanks for the fast answer. A further complication, I'm afraid :-(

When I click on the menu ≡ I don't get help.

I have: cut, copy, paste, - (minus sign), 100%. +, New Private Window, Save page, print, history, full screen, find, home, options, add-ons, hello, developer, synced tabs, pocket and on the bottom a line with my emails address and customize... Debbby

does it make any difference when you disable the scanning of https connections in avast like it's described in?: How to troubleshoot security error codes on secure websites it may well be that they fiddle with your connection and actually downgrade your security... all the other security settings seem correct.

more options

Hi Philipp,

Did as you suggested and un-clicked the "Enable HTTPS Scanning" then went to 2nd Life and made a purchase

Got the same notice re the TLS 1.2  :-( Debby

more options

you could visit a site like https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/viewMyClient.html which should tell you all the security features a browser supports - under "protocol features" it should show "TLS 1.2 Yes", if it does then it's a fluke in 2nd life's detection algorithm and you might contact them about it...

OK Thanks. I'll try that.

Ha Ha on me... After going through all of the difficult and complicated procedures recommended, it turns out that the TLS 1.2 problem is due to an upgrade of Second Life itself and nothing to do with the browser!!

Thank you Phillip and Cor-el for your help!
