what does sync do and should i install it. will it sync my android s7
is it a good idea to sync my firefox and what does it sync to. bonus question: how do i get rid of internal popups I tried using the no pop up box check but no results
Chosen solution
As far as using Sync with an Android device goes, it you have more than 5000 bookmarks in Sync the Android version won't synchronize them. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-sync-troubleshooting-and-tips#w_my-bookmarks-arent-syncing-to-firefox-for-android
Overall, we have see a lot of support threads about corruption of bookmarks in Sync when an "mobile device" is sync'd over the last year or so; with both Android and iOS devices. A few of us contributors have followed those threads and I haven't ever seen any of those threads concluded; most OP's disappear before "we" can come up with a conclusion as to the probable cause and thus can't use threads like that to file a Bug report. So my opinion is to not use Sync when a "mobile device" is involved; or be prepared for having a problem.
As far as your "popups", if those are from the UI (User Interface) and if they disappear with any key input (or most keys) my guess is that what you are seeing is part of the UI. The PrintScreen key alone usually doesn't 'dismiss' those things, so you should be able to grab a screenshot of what you are talking about.
Basically, those are hard to block and if it is even possible to block them it would probably be "all or nothing". IOW, you can't block one without losing them all.

Sync Syncs with another device, (It can be tricked into syncing with another account on the same device), and uses a Mozilla server, but the data on the server is not intended or considered to be a backup.
You may sync various things there is a set of options to choose from. It will sync with Android phones. Note however an Android phone handles bookmarks differently, it does not have a bookmarks manager. Also be aware occasionally Sync totally messes up bookmarks especially if you have very large numbers or a slow connection. I personally recommend always making regular manual backups of Bookmarks especially if Sync is used on bookmarks.

I am not to sure what you mean by internal popups, but if they are adverts something like ublock origin may help
Does that help or are you able to give more info about your problem.
The pop ups I refer to are internal from windows similar to the kind you get from a drop down such as "file" or "View". They appear randomly and disappear when you start to type. None of them has a delete or hide option.
Can you provide screenshots of these mystery popups please
I can't take a screen shot ause the second I move my cursor the pop up goes away.
Does using the print screen button on the keyboard take a screenshot ? if it does you mayh need to then load the file into something like paint and convert to a smaller file such as a .jpeg or .png.
Can you describe what they look like and whether they have any links in them ?
Most of these pop ups look like you clicked on the tool bar button for "tools" I can't make a screen print since as son as I hit any key the dang thing goes away . Its not a show stopper but it is very bothersome to have it over write your input on the screen. It seems to have started when I installed windows 10. I also notice a few other things when windows 10 was installed. No matter how I set the mouse to no hover option it still opens lines by just hovering. And I have no idea why but I lost the signal strength and on / off WIFI bar insert on on the bottom bar anymore. Those last 2 items are real show stoppers and make me want to uninstall windows 10 and reinstall it......

Not the place to discuss Windows but I generally think 10 seems ok.
I have deliberately left most machines on 7 though as 7 will probably outlive the hardware & I am a bit worried about them remaining 10 compatible as 10 updates; and of course we can not control 10's updates.
I am not even in Windows at the moment, but even if I could solve your problems with 10 this is not the place for it.
By the way you may downgrade again from Windows 10 to 7: if you do it within, I think 30 days; but I seem to remember a warning that on multiple accounts, downgrade info may be lost.
For Windows problems try somewhere like (Personal comment not a Mozilla recommendation)
dano999,
What about what I said brought you to select my reply as the "solution" for this questions thread?
Is it that you have more than 5000 bookmarks?
No I only have a few dozen book marks, the fact that I can't get rid of them is just tough luck for me. I really wish I could get the hover to enter function to go away. I've tried everything and still it is there. I would think my selection used on the mouse system where it states no hovering would work.......but it does not.
