I ran a MacAfee total scan, no help.

My screen is blue and says "windows 7", of all things. The window urges me to call an 800 number.

I am now using int. exp. to get to you.

That's strange. Windows 10 doesn't include Rename on the right-click context menu?! What if you press the F2 function key. Does that still work?

Could you give a little more background on this. Did the problem screen appear while you were using Firefox? How did you exit out of Firefox or how did you get access to IE?

I use both IE and Firefox for different tasks. The only thing I could do was shut the computer down at the power button. I restarted and Ff was in the same situation. IE works well The last time I opened Ff a countdown of some sort began. I powered down, restarted have not opened Ff at all.

Thank you for your interest.

Okay, let's remove your session history in Firefox so that it can't restore that problem page. We'll hide the files from Firefox and keep them for future reference.

Copy the following, then paste it into the Windows 10 search bar and press Enter to open this path in Windows Explorer:

%APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

In that Profiles folder, you usually see one semi-randomly-named profile folder, for example:

abcd1234.default

If you have one folder, click into it. If there are multiple folders, we'll repeat the following steps for each one.

In the profile folder, look for the following:

  • sessionstore-backups folder ==> rename this to OLDsessions
  • sessionstore.js file ==> if you find this -- it's usually not there if Firefox was not shut down normally -- rename it to BADsessionstore.js
  • sessionstore.bak file ==> if you find this, it's probably ancient, just delete it

After this, when you start Firefox up, it should just show your home page.

So far so good?

I found the files mentioned. I do not know how to rename them. I right clicked and did not see such an option.

Thanks again.
