After installing Windows 10, I was using Windows Live 2012 and received this message. I have now changed to Thunderbird and still the same message appears. I have made Thunderbird Default in the Systems Menu.

Microsoft send a message a while ago telling people that you could no longer use Windows Live Mail with Outlook.com anymore , saying you had to switch to using the Outlook email client. However, they were being deceptive. Windows Live Mail supports three different connection types: POP, IMAP, and Outlook / Windows Live synchronization. Its only the latter that was dropped. You could continue to use Windows Live Mail with Outlook.com if you reconfigured it to use a POP or IMAP connection
