Installed "show body parts" add-on but it didn't work-removed it but now messages don't display as they used to. What do I do now?
Received an e-mail with "comic" lines each followed by a graphic image/cartoon. This was originally sent to a Yahoo account. I wanted to send it to others from my account that uses Thunderbird. When I opened the message in T'bird, all of the text was in the original font and color as the original message, but all of the images were missing and listed as attachments. After exploring the help options for Thunderbird, I found the recommendation to add the "show body parts" add-on.
I installed the add-on but it didn't help. The entire original format of the message had been changed to something that looked like a Microsoft "notepad" file, though with some active links displayed. I then removed the add-on entirely hoping that would return everything to what it was before the add-on was installed. Didn't work. I then opened some other messages I had to see if the problem was related to only the message that I had opened after the add-on installation. Not so - other messages that had NPOT been opened after the install were also altered. Regardless of what font the message was created in, everything now comes up in courier.
Is there another step that needs to be taken, maybe in "about:config" to completely remove any trail of the add-on and return T'bird to the configuration that will open message in the format in which they were sent?
Thanks for your help.

Have you checked what View|Message Body As is set to? The add-on will have changed it and will not necessarily have set it back to the original value. I think you need to try "Original HTML".
