Chosen solution

Try this to rule out something being stored in preferences.

Make hidden files and folders visible:

In Thunderbird

  • Help > TRoubleshooting Information
  • click on 'show Folder'

a new window opens showing contents of Profile name folder

  • Close Thunderbird now - this is important

Look for and delete the following files:

  • session.json
  • xulstore.json

These will be recreated.

Restart Thunderbird.

Retest by click in on 'Write' button.

please report back on results.

re: Second image is in safe mode all worked as it should,

This makes me think one of the addon extensions is causing a conflict. Do the following to find out which one.

Start in normal regular mode. 'Tools' > 'Addons' Disable one addon extension. Restart Thunderbird

If still a problem then you know the disabled addon extension is not causing a conflict.

Repeat - disable one more addon extension and restart TB..repeat until it works ok, then you know which addon extension is the problem.

If this is caused by an addon, it might need updating or perhaps the addon is not compatible until the author fixes it. The author should be told about the issue.

Please tell us the addon extension that caused the issue.

Safe mode also turns off hardware acceration.

Menu icon > Options > Options > Advanced > General tab uncheck 'Use hardware acceration when available' click on OK

Restart Thunderbird and report back on results.

What OS are you using ?

Please confirm : In normal start mode, after disabling one addon extension, did you restart Thunderbird to test ? Then disable another addon and restart Thunderbird to test? etc

It is not enough to just disable, you have to restart afterwards.

re : same issue in version 45, 47 and 49, Exit Thunderbird. If you did the above testing correctly, please uninstall whatever version you are using and make sure there are no other versions installed. Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features select Thunderbird and click on uninstall

I'm not sure where you downloaded those versions from as 45.2.0 is the current release. Some are obviously beta versions.

Then download and install from this link, selecting the language of preference and download for your OS.
