firefox redirected me to some https://www.google.com/uds/api/searc.... when viewing this page www.hctra.org

As stated in the question.

When I try to go to www.hctra.org with firefox, it will display a bit of the page, then redirected me to https://www.google.com/uds/api/search/1.0 ...... , which only shows the source code of the page.

There are other pages periodically have the same problem.

Chosen solution

I think it's a good idea to keep "Simple" and "Tab" disabled, and run some of the free cleaning programs listed in our support article: Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware.

Hmm, that's odd. That address doesn't even load for me (maybe it got cut off?).

Could you test whether the same things happens in Firefox's Safe Mode? In Safe Mode, Firefox temporarily deactivates extensions, hardware acceleration, and some other advanced features to help you assess whether these are causing the problem.

If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox.

If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

and OK the restart.

Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).

Any difference?

Restart in Safe Mode works.

Does that mean one of the add-ons is causing problem ?

I only have 4 add-on:

All Aboard Simple Tab Videodownload helper

thx.

What are the full names of "Simple" and "Tab"? You can copy paste the full name and unique identifier from the troubleshooting information page. Either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Troubleshooting Information
  • (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
  • type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter/Return

Then scroll down to Extensions and just below that heading, select and copy the table, then paste that into a reply. It will look a bit messy, but we're used to it.

I had to REMOVE the SIMPLE and TAB, just disabling does not resolve the problem.

I don't under when I report it, it goes to a Google site. Everyday I get redirected to another site claiming to be a: from location bar: https://auwaeteachers-eligibility-test.net/6261817584752/99a0eaba562d780a8617bac3edd91f06.html firefox-patch.js which is: JavaScript File (2.6 KB) now the next line is always different, from: https://auwaeteachers-eligibility-test.net

Would you like to save this file?

If it's representing itself as firefox, why report to google who apparently isn't doing a thing about it. Come on please help us.

Hi jetergirl6, I feel as though you may have replied in a different thread than the one you intended to. ??

Firefox's built-in phishing and malware site filter is driven by a list compiled by Google, which is why you use Google's site to add bad sites to the list.

Currently there isn't any other built-in mechanism to block sites or downloads.

To reduce the number of times you see fake update pages -- which as far as we know load as redirects from an ad in a page you're visiting -- you could install an ad blocking extension such as the following:

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/

Forgot to mention this article that I think you were commenting on: I found a fake Firefox update
