Everytime I sign into firefox sync from my home computer I have to confirm new sign-in to firefox through my email. How can I avoid doing this every time?

Every time I sign into firefox sync from my home computer, I have to confirm new sign-in to firefox through my email. My workstation computer in my office is always signed into firefox sync. Is there a way for my home computer to avoid "confirming a new sign-in"? In my Preferences under Privacy, I have "Firefox will: Remember history". I am not sure if any other settings cause this behavior.

Is your setting for about:preferences#privacy under "History" Keep until I have closed Firefox? Or are you in permanent private browsing?

The login should say valid if the cookies are enabled for accounts.

Under history, cookies are "keep until: they expire". I am not in permanent private browsing mode.

Also to clarify my problem, I am required to sign into sync every time I open firefox fresh from my home computer (the yellow triangle with the exclamation point appears over "Open menu" button). Then once I am signed in, I have to confirm the new sign in from my email.

I also have this problem lately. ESR 45.3.0. There is no "Keep until I have closed Firefox" option. I am set to "Remember History". It's extremely frustrating to have to keep answering emails in order to use my browser. Please help.

I also have this problem. Is there any way this can be escalated to Mozilla Tech by the OP?

Unless I do the email confirmation routine, there is a stupid popup at the bottom of the screen with error message.

FF gets jammed so often I have to close and restart it multiple times a day and EVERY TIME that Sync problem occurs. Have to go open my email, waste time, confirm, THEN it will sync.

Am so frustrated I have now disabled it completely, disconnected, and am looking into alternatives.

I keep history, keep cookies, do NOT use privacy mode, so there should be no problem like this.

It would be convenient to have FF Sync rather than an outside service BUT there is NO convenience in having to do the email confirmations multiple times a day!

WTF does it take to get an answer around here? I can relate that this is an annoying feature and there seems to be no way to disable it. 1 month has gone by and the OP has no answer to his question. I don't want a work around, I want a button to click to disable it. I clear cookies multiple times per day and get annoyed by the sign iin thing so I skip it but then crap isn't synced. I miss the days when Firefox was better than the others and just worked and if you needed to know something, the help tab did the trick.

After revisiting the sign up process for Firefox 48.0.1 this is what I found out:

If you attach the browser session to a new computer (2nd device), if you have not verified the email address after confirming the sign in (a second email) if you close the Firefox session, the account will require you to go through the process again.

If you click on the hamburger menu, the Firefox preferences/options, you will see a yellow warning to verify the account if you have not clicked the link the second email. Once you do that, it will take you to the sync preferences page. Reload that page and that yellow warning will go away.

Second, after that process if you close the session and reopen it the account should still be attached. I tested this with these cookie options: "Use custom settings for history" with

[x] remember my browsing and download history

[x] remember search and form history

[x]accept cookies from sites = accept third =party from visited or keep until they expire.

[x] clear history when Firefox closes (everything is selected in the settings options)

Across the devices I am syncing all but addons. SO far I have not been booted from the computer I am testing on from the sign in of sync.

I hope this helps.

hmm I am not seeing the second confirmation. Here are the steps I am doing:

  1. Open firefox on my machine.
  2. After a brief amount of time, the yellow exclamation pops over the hamburger menu telling me to reconnect to sync.
  3. I click hamburger menu and then click "Reconnect to sync".
  4. Step 3 opens the "Firefox Sync" tab telling me to sign in with my email.
  5. I sign in and then it tells me to open my email.
  6. I open my email and I have a message from firefox to confirm my new email. I click "Confirm sign-in".
  7. Step 6 pops open the "Sign-in confirmed". Then the "Sync Enabled" appears over the hamburger menu.
  8. Step 6 also has a link to my sync preferences, which are set to sync Tabs, Bookmarks, Tabs, and Preferences.

Now from 8 I am not sure how to get the second email confirmation. If I click the hamburger and "Preferences" after 8, I do not see any other yellow warnings. Also my settings under Preferences -> Privacy -> History, i have "remember my browsing and download history", "remember search and form history", and "accept cookies from sites" all checked. Under "accept cookies from sites", I have "Accept third party cookies" set to "Always" and "Keep until" to "they expire".

I found sync log files under ~/.mozilla/firefox/s3dudlhx.default/weave/logs. I attached a screenshot of all the text for one where it pops up the initial sync error (steps 1-2 above). It really just says "Sync encountered a login error".

Wondering if this has possibly been fixed. I have had zero sync sign-in issues on my computers for the past 3-4 days. I'd guess.

Anyone?

I still have the issue. I have pretty much accepted the fact I have to live with this. I just wish I did not have to perform an email confirmation every time I am required to login.
