TB version 45.2.0 on a Win 7 Home Premium system no longer downloads messages. Several conversations with my ISP show that the server settings are correct. I can send email from TB with no errors. folders were recently compressed and I have tested it with both anti-virus and firewalls disabled. I can read mail through web access at my ISP. The screen indicates that TB connects to my email account, but no email is downloaded and no error messages are generated. It appears that I have "A Failure To Communicate". What should I check next?

The good news is, it appears to be working now. Let me tell you what I have done. I backed up my profile and removed and reinstalled Thunderbird. Moved by backed up profile to the new installation and no joy - it still didn't work. I then started renaming my existing email accounts in TB and built new ones through the add mail account process. Lo and behold, they would connect and download messages, all I had to do then was copy the old messages and paste them into the newly created mailboxes. I don't know what was different between the old and new mailboxes, but there must have been something.
