How to restart thunderbird

After serching for five minutes I have not been able to learn how to restart Thunderbird. Thunderbird Help has given me lots of articles which mention restarting, but nothing which told me how to restart. Why is the answer to how to do somenting so basic so difficult to find?

Searching on DDG came up with a restarting add-on which worked for v. 1.5-3.1. Not helpful twenty years later.

Is it posible to restart v 45.1.1?

It basically means to close down Thunderbird, then start it again.

  1. Click on the red [x] in the top-right corner of all Thunderbird windows you have open.
  2. Open Thunderbird.
