Currently when I try to access say "update Preferences" on an incoming email through Thunderbird , no browser facility pops up. Hence I am unable to access "F1" when trying to get Help contents. Can anyone help please?

Start > Settings > Control Panel > Default Programs Have you set your computer to have a default browser? Have you set the program access and computer defaults?

Have you checked in Firefox to see if it your default broswer? Tools > Options >General
