Why does Thunderbird dump everything in my Inbox if I check my email on my desktop PC using Windows Live Mail instead of this laptop?

I don't have a printer connected to this laptop so I often forward emails to my PC computer in the basement that does have a printer. I use Windows Live Mail on the basement PC and have both my main email and a second email address on that computer. Every time I open my Thunderbird on this laptop after having checked email on the basement PC, I find that every email in my Inbox has disappeared. I would like to learn how to keep this from happening in the future. Thank you.

Chosen solution

IMAP would work better in your situation. Then you wouldn't have to bother forwarding messages from one account to another.

If you must carry on using POP, set your email clients to leave a copy on the server.
