Malware in firefox asking for urgent upgrades to zuthehangikredi.org Host entires?

I really wanted to reply to forum topic but there isn't any obvious way to generate an account profile with out posting. One thing I did was put an entry in my host file so that the site I was directed to resolves to my local host IP address. I read the forums and when I get browser redirects from Malware I put host file entries so they resolve locally. Has anybody used this method to prevent malware? This started from getting hard drive will be deleted in 5 minutes malware over X mas holiday. I ran malware scans ect to remove that bug actually uninstalled and reinstalled firefox. Malware sucks.
