How do I get rid of "Add security exception" and "You are about to override how TB identifies this site" and receive my e-mail?

Today I received a msg from Thunderbird ominously stating the above and says legitimate sites will not ask you to do this. Also gives the server location as "pop.att.yahoo.com995. Certification status states "This site attempts to identify itself with invalid information" and then under Outdated info states "The certification not currently valid. It may have been stolen or lost and could be used to someone to impersonate this site" I am not able to access my e-mail with that there or even when I get the msg to cancel.
