Hi! For the last 2-ish weeks, Thunderbird takes about 5 full minutes to open after I click on the program icon. I have the following software:

Windows 10 Home, ver. 1607, build 14393.969

Thunderbird 52.0.1 (but that's only for the last week, the problem started before then)

I have uninstalled Thunderbird and reinstalled it and am still having the same problem. Before, it took on about 15-ish seconds to open the program. I am not having any issues re: receiving, saving, writing or sending messages. There is no new software on my computer that would be interfering with Thunderbird other than the usual worse-than-beta FAIL that occurs with every Microsoft Windows update!

Please help.

What anti virus are you using? They can have these sorts of effects. as can add-on that do not make the transition to a new version well. But you said your had the issue on 2 versions already. Try safe mode anyway, just to be sure. Use the restart with add-ons disabled from the help menu. Or hold the shift key while starting Thunderbird and continue in safe mode when prompted.

Thanks, nope, turns out the problem was due to more botched Win10 updates from Microsoft.

Please return to your normal activities.

? IDK, whatever was released around 4/05 through about 4/15, just got it resolved with MS Tech Support 4/20 (yes, and, no, that's not a joke). Did a reinstall (saving all data but DELETING the entire Update History file, so I really don't know). Frickin' pain in the butt--EVERY time they do updates, it costs me 8 - 20 HOURS to get everything working properly again.

Of course, now that I look at Update again, it shows three updates available for download:

• Security Update for Adobe Flash Player for Windows 10 Version 1607 (for x64-based Systems) (KB4018483). • Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64-based Systems (KB4015217). • Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64-based Systems (KB4013418).

But the Downloading progress is firmly set at "0%." <sigh>
