Chosen solution

There may be a setting in Account Settings set up to do this. Right click on mail account in Folder Pane and select 'Settings' select 'Server Settings' bottom right under 'Message Storage' uncheck: 'Empty deleted folder on Exit'

If POP :: select 'Disc space' for pop mail account Else If Imap: Select: 'Synchronisation & Storage'

Select 'Don't delete any messages'

click on OK

Now check the folder itself. right click on 'Deleted/Trash' folder and select 'Properties' select 'Retention Policy' tab Select: 'Use my account settings' click on 'OK'

If you have an imap mail account: Logon to webmail account via a browser and check to see if you have a setting to Empty the Trash set to per day.

Whilst the server can have an auto empty the trash policy, they usually do this on eg: a monthly basis, not daily.
