why do I have a new file called 2017? & how to I stop stuff from going there instead of my e-mail inbox Thunderbird
after a bunch of updates - Win 10, Thunderbird etc I noticed my e-mail has Yet another folder it is called 2017
I also noticed Incoming e-mails are going there- randomly (or so it seems) I want All my mail going into my Inbox ( except those my ISP provider's spam/junk filter utility send to my Junk file)
as it is I have to go look in this 2017 box
shows up most obviously on my desk top
I attempted deleting the file but could not - when I hit delete I got the pop up saying Cannot Rename File
mildly annoyed
Really Like the utility

Usually folders named with a date are archive folders.. To archive messages in Thunderbird takes a manual operation from the user. Messages do not archive automatically and archive folders do not appear on their own.
The shortcut to archive a message is pressing the letter a. You can read about archive here. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/archived-messages
Ok so I reduced my archive - I don't Archive Anything by the way Still does not answer some New Messages I have Not Seen Yet go there
