Hello,

I've had Thunderbird working to access my mac.com email account for several years. I few weeks ago it stopped working as the password stopped working. I tried deleting the account in thunderbird but now it won't accept the configuraton with a message "Configuration could not be verified - is the username or password wrong? " However I can login here https://www.icloud.com/ using the web interface. Any ideas?

June 15 Apple implemented mandatory 2 factor authentication. I guess they did not tell their users or they all missed the memo. This requires that you generate an app specific password to use with 3rd party email clients instead of your normal email password.
