What are the notifications that pop up under the search bar and how can I disable them? Every time I open the browser I end up having to wait for the Mozilla notifications to load before the page unfreezes. It's annoying

What notifications? What do they say?

There's no need to take a screen shot. If you're familiar with the Firefox homepage (which you should be), you'll know what I'm referring to. They are notifications which pop up underneath the search bar. The search bar in the middle of the page. Underneath will pop up notifications that tell you about Mozilla crap which I'm never interested in. When I open the Firefox browser, these notifications will be the last thing to load, and the page will freeze while they do. How do I disable them?

Mozilla.org changes the about:home display once in a while. After a time it gets changed back. Check out about:blank

Mozilla shows rotating snippets on the about:home page to run different campaigns and these changes regularly. You can consider to set another page as the home page for now or you can wait until this campaign ends.

If you prefer not to see snippets on the about:home page or if there are problems with a snippet then you can set this pref to an empty string value on the about:config page by deleting the current value via the right-click context menu (Modify) or a double-click.

  • browser.aboutHomeSnippets.updateUrl (delete current value)

Delete the storage\persistent\moz-safe-about+home folder in the Firefox profile folder with Firefox closed ("3-bar" Firefox menu button -> Exit/Quit) to remove snippets stored in IndexedDB and make Firefox use a default snippet set.

You can reset the browser.aboutHomeSnippets.updateUrl pref via the right-click context menu to the default value to re-enable the snippets and make Firefox recreate the moz-safe-about+home folder.

Close and restart Firefox after changing the value of the browser.aboutHomeSnippets.updateUrl pref.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.
