Firefox will not load I keep getting message that it will not download while Firefox is in the background but I don't have it in my programmes

When firefox tries to install ,I get the message "the old firefox is running in the background. Firefox will not run" I check all my programs and there is no Fireox

Reboot the computer. Then run the installer.

If there is still a problem, boot in Safe Mode.
