Send box greyed out for some email groups

I have been using many email groups (each containing up to 49 email addresses) in my Thunderbird address book for several years, but, the last one that I sent successfully was 09/06/2017! Since that date, whenever I've tried inserting some of those groups into my To, Cc or Bcc box, the Send box has been greyed out!

Today, I found a cure for this bug that has been introduced into Thunderbird some date after 09/06/2017.

The groups that caused this had names like ABCD-(a-bre), however, I've discovered that if a space is placed before the open bracket like this - ABCD- (a-bre) - everything works as it used to.

I'm sure that I may not be the only user to have been baffled by this anomaly.

Chosen solution

That's surprising. I'd generally recommend removing spaces as a first step. Maybe sometimes it doesn't matter if there is a space or not, just changing anything is enough to kick it back into action.

I also view non-alphanumeric characters with some suspicion. I'd have taken out the brackets and hyphens too.
