Setting priority on received messages

I like to mark inbound messages w priority as well as sending the rare hi-pri note. Is there any way to apply a high priority to received messages, other than finagling a Tag? Where there is a Priority value, I like to see the priority there and not have to hunt for some invented aside mechanism to ALSO note priority. I found no help articles, no menu items, nothing other than the composing-new option to set outbound messages priority.

If a received message has been assigned a priority by the sender, it can be shown by enabling the Priority column (right-click any column button in the Threads Pane). Otherwise, to mark a message as high priority, I think you have to either tag it or star it.

A star means nothing, tags are an extra place to have to hunt down. priority must be in one place, under PRIORITY.
