going to google automatically opens the google search bar, showing me several past things I've searched for.
I don't know what's going on, but today, when I opened google in firefox, the search bar sort of...opened. It shows me a short list of several past searches with REMOVE to the right of the searches. I don't know how to stop this from happening. Here's a screen shot...
I've tried disabling show search history/suggestions, and that didn't do anything. I tried messing with the about:config, that didn't do anything either.

Hmm, I don't think that's how Firefox shows search history. You can disable Firefox's Form and Search History feature to check. Details on that at the end.
Perhaps it's from your Google web history? These links should help you investigate that:
- Delete searches & other activity from your account - Computer - Google Search Help
- https://myactivity.google.com/
To disable Firefox's Form and Search history feature:
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options
In the left column, click Privacy. Then on the right side, if you do not have "Firefox will: Use custom settings for history" go ahead and select that.
Then you should get a bunch of checkboxes and you can deselect/uncheck "Remember search and form history".
More info on that settings panel: Settings for privacy, browsing history and do-not-track. (Be careful not to clear data you might care about.)
Have same problem. Only happens with firefox. I don't want to clear history necessarily - just don't want it showing up in center of screen when I open google.
Hi hubot, I think Google is showing your Google web history. Firefox's form history entries do not have the word "Remove" next to them.
These links should help you investigate that:
As a footnote, I disabled all web history on all my Google accounts years ago, so I've never seen that myself. Also, I mostly use Google logged out of my Google account (unless I need to check some Gmail). That further reduces the accumulation of web history.
