Firefox latest update keeps on repeating itself, why?
when opening version 55.0.2 it keeps offering latest version (itself) and even after forcing a reinstall it is doing this
Chosen solution
Hmm, I reinstalled ver 55.0.3 64 bit and there appeared to be 2 instances running. Deleted 32 bit icon from task bar and shortcut. It seems to be running 55.0.3 exclusively now which is okay, dunno if there will be any other silly leftovers on the laptop but for now it seems to be working okay.

Firefox 55.0.3 was released a few days ago.
Maybe so but Firefox installer keeps putting 55.0.2 on and is not picking up 55.0.3
If you have trouble with the upgrade, use this link; http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/
Used the link and updater appeared to install version 55.0.3 64 bit. However, the first time Firefox was started the installer simply cut in and in and re-installed version 55.0.2 - go figure?
Oh and it installed the 32 bit version 55.0.2 and I am running a 64 bit laptop

Note that you can see whether you have a 32-bit or a 64-bit version in the "Help -> About Firefox" window. Firefox 55 would normally install or update to the 64-bit Firefox version and the updater would automatically uninstall the 32-bit version if that what was running the update.
