I have exported a group email list (Thunderbird) to my wife's computer, but it has been configured as an address book, and we need it to be converted into a mailing list. I have had no luck dragging and dropping the contact list (csv) to a new list, which was the method suggested by Mozilla after I googled the problem. Please help. Thank you. Joel

Well, you need the address book to properly build a Mailing List, so no harm done.

In the new address book, File|New|Mailing List. Give it a name. Close it.

Select all the addresses (ctrl+a) and drag them onto the Mailing List's icon. Do make sure they all have an email address, as you tend to break a Mailing List if you add a contact without an email address.

Alternatively, if you open your csv file in a spreadsheet and select and copy just the display name and primary email address columns, you can open the Mailing List editor and paste into it. It won't look good right now, but if you close it and re-open it, you should find it has organized them into name/email address format. You may have to trim out oddities such as angle brackets, leading spaces and stray commas.
