silverlight
So my company uses an online program that requires silverlight to run. We were considering upgrading to macs and were told there is a specific version of firefox that still supports silverlight. When reading more, however, it seemed that maybe that version would only be available until the beginning of next year. Is this true?
Chosen solution
The Extended Support Release of Firefox 52 -- the last version that runs NPAPI plugins other than Flash -- is scheduled to get its last security update in April 2018. See:
- Why do Java, Silverlight, Adobe Acrobat and other plugins no longer work?
However:
Mozilla does not offer a special version of the Silverlight plugin, and Microsoft announced the "end of life" for Silverlight for Firefox on all platforms as of 12/31/2016. So you probably need to stick with Windows to have a supported configuration of that app. See:
And of course, encourage your vendor to update!
