Why does Thunderbird no longer allow me to add senders to address books? [Mac]
I have TBird 52.4.0 and OS 10.12.6 on my Mac. Clicking on the star by a sender's name no longer adds the sender to any address book that I maintain. Could you please save my job by speeding up my management of our email list perhaps by making additions simpler than single field cut and paste?
Thank you.

Can you update the address book manually? The MAC Address book for instance is read only. But that is not new. IT has always bean read only.
Actually, I can. I have used Thunderbird for years and only recently have been unable to add addresses as I see fit to the address books I update. Something happened so that when I set the cursor on the little star to the right of the name and press it, the "Add to Address book" selection comes up, with others, but the addition is no longer made. I have hundreds of entries that I made in the same way, but now it doesn't work. Thanks for helping me.
Does Thunderbird work in TB Safe mode (see Thunderbird Safe Mode)? Do you use anti-virus and firewall software? What is the version?
Did this happen prior to version 52.4.0??
When address books stop accepting new contacts or changes to existing ones, it's usually a sign that the address books have become corrupted. The remedy is to export the books, delete the mab files for the books, then import the books that were previously exported.
Hi again. I am so sorry to delay my attention to this but I am out of town and away from the computer in question. I will reconnect at the beginning of next week and answer your questions and make the suggested changes. Thank you very much though for your attention to my problem.
