Firefox updated and now the password editor is not compatible. Why? Also the bookmark window doesn't close after a selection.

Since the Password Manager was improved a few versions ago and retitled to Logins Manager there has been a feature to allow the user to edit existing passwords, so an extension that adds that type of feature isn't needed any more.
Open the Saved Logins window as described here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/password-manager-remember-delete-change-and-import#firefox:win7:fx57
Then highlight and right-click on the Username that you would like to Edit and select Edit. A Saved Password Editor window will open - then edit away.
As far as your Bookmarks issue, I'm not having that happen for me from either the Menu Bar or the Toolbar. But there are 4 ways to view your bookmarks. From the Menu Bar, from the Toolbar button, in the Sidebar, and in the Library; the latter two don't close after selecting a bookmark.
