How can I view the permissions an addon has?

At the moment in Firefox 57.0 I am unable to view the permissions a given Addon has.

Reading around I found that an "about:permissions" page used to exist but no longer does. As well, the "view permissions" button has been removed from the Addons website for Firefox.

It's a bit counterintuitive, but you can see the permissions an addon has by attempting to install it:

  1. Go to the addon's page on addons.mozilla.org
  2. choose "Add to Firefox"
  3. If you see a "Firefox prevented this site from asking you to install software" message, choose "allow".
  4. You should then get a popup listing the addon's permissions. Since you already have the addon installed, you can just choose "cancel".
