I used to use two add-ons. One was called cookie culler and the other one was called auto close bookmarks. In the last two "improved" versions of Firefox, these were relegated to the legacy group. These were very handy add-ons and I used them all the time. I'd like to know when Firefox will come up with either these or a substitute.

I expect you might be seeing disabled Legacy add-ons, or see that some of your add-ons were disabled after you updated to Firefox version 57. In Firefox 57, The WebExtensions API enables add-ons to be more secure and perform better with your browser. For more information, see Firefox add-on technology is modernizing.

Unfortunately not all add-ons were updated to this new standard. Visit http://arewewebextensionsyet.com/ to check if yours were updated. Mozilla also created a feature to help you find a replacement for your favorite add-on. Read more here.

To find replacements for your legacy add-on:

  1. Click the menu button Fx57menu and choose Add-ons (or enter about:addons in a new tab).
  2. In the Add-ons Manager that opens, Click Legacy Extensions
  3. Click the Find a Replacement button next to your legacy add-on.

If a replacement doesn’t exist or isn’t helpful, please use this utility to find recommended alternatives. If you don’t find a suitable replacement, please head over to the add-ons forum for help. We expect legacy add-ons to continue migrating to the new WebExtensions standard, even if they missed the Firefox 57 release date.

There’s also a community-sourced list of alternatives on Google Docs.

Due to other changes in Firefox, Mozilla could not delay the switch to WebExtensions APIs. Mozilla Support volunteers are here to help you find alternatives to your favorite extensions. To start, use this utility to find recommended alternatives. If not, please head over to our forum to ask for help.

What add-ons are compatible in Firefox 57? You can search addons.mozilla.org for compatible extensions here: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/search/?tag=firefox57

How can I keep track of what add-ons are ready? These are being tracked here: https://arewewebextensionsyet.com/

Hi  !

I'm sorry you've lost your favourite add-ons - it's not up to Firefox though to migrate add-ons to Webextensions, but to the add-ons developers.

As a replacement for 'Cookie Culler' - would you see if this might work for you  ?

I haven't been able to find a replacement for the 'Autoclose Bookmarks' add-on - maybe you could take a look on this page and see if you can find one that will do what you want :
