Hi, using an older version is not recommended, see Install an older version of Firefox.

If you really want to stay on an old version you need to turn off automatic updates: 3-bar menu > Options (General) - Firefox Updates.

It's much better to fix your slowness issues: You can try reducing the number of multiprocesses: Go to the 3-bar menu > Options (General) - Performance, then deselect 'Use recommended performance settings' and change 'Content process limit' to 1 or 2. See - Firefox's performance settings, and Startup, home page, tabs, and download settings.

Whilst in the 3-bar menu, you can also go to Options (Privacy & Security) - Permissions, and tick/check 'Prevent accessibility services from accessing your browser' then restart Firefox. More - What is the Accessibility Service Indicator?

If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please take a minute to let us know. Thank you!

I have just been told that downloading an old version of firefox might be helpful.

I tried that before and had the same problem - it just keeps reverting the new version. I cant get rid of this wretched, complicated, irritating new version that I didnt want, but had to install in order to stay on Firefox. It used to be a great place to be. Loved everything about it. Now it is a nightmare. (Just mho of course).  :) All I want is a menu so I can get to my cache to empty it...... it seems I cant do what I want to do until I do. And it seems this new version has no way to get to it. I have tried everything so far suggested and I can even get to my menu, never mind the cache. Thanks to those who have tried. I appreciate it.
