I was opening my thunderbird account and was asked to allow an update. After I did my links to the emails no longer work. I get the message "The item "thunderbird.exe' that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so the shortcut will no longer work properly. How do I get it back? Thanks.

I had the same problem tonight after Windows 10 updated itself and Thunderbird would not open. Thunderbird came up with the message that it was re-installing and I had to restart my computer. Despite restarting 3 times Thunderbird still was not working. When I tried to unistall it would not uninstall. In the end I uninstalled the Mozilla Helper (because that would uninstall) and just DELETED the Thunderbird program. I then re-installed Thunderbird and now my mail is working again and all my mail and folders are there.

Sometimes also deleting the thunderbird *program* folder helps.
