How can I hide my phone number from the public?
Whenever i use my Firefox Mozilla browser I always get a unkown caller to call my cell phone within 1 hour or so. How can I hide my phone number from the public?
Chosen solution
I don't know if your phone number is saved in Windows. It probably is saved in some of your online accounts (e.g., Google, Yahoo, Microsoft).
In Firefox, you can check the addresses you saved from forms you filled out using Firefox 58.
- Windows: "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options
- Mac: "3-bar" menu button (or Firefox menu) > Preferences
- Linux: "3-bar" menu button (or Edit menu) > Preferences
- Any system: type or paste about:preferences into the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it
In the left column, click "Privacy & Security"
Then on the right side, click the Saved Addresses button. Highlight one and click Edit. Change as needed and click Save. Repeat with the others. Or you can remove them all.

When you use Firefox on Windows, someone calls you on your mobile phone? Or when you use Firefox on Android or iOS? Which product causes this issue, exactly?
When you visit a website, your browser provides an IP address (so you can receive data back from the site) and may provide a hardware identifier for the device (I don't know if that occurs on desktop). However, the browser doesn't give your phone number or other personal information unless you fill it in on a form.
If this occurs on Windows, let's assume the worst and do some system cleanup.
(1) Open the Windows Control Panel, Uninstall a Program.
After the list loads, click the "Installed on" column heading to group the infections, I mean, additions, by date. This can help in smoking out undisclosed bundle items that snuck in with some software you agreed to install. Be suspicious of everything you do not recognize/remember, as malware often uses important or innocent sounding names to discourage you from removing it.
Take out as much trash as possible here. If you're not sure, feel free to post program names or a screenshot of the list.
(2) Open Firefox's Add-ons page using either:
- Ctrl+Shift+a (Mac: Command+Shift+a)
- "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
- in the Windows "Run" dialog, type or paste
firefox.exe "about:addons"
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable (or Remove, if possible) unrecognized and unwanted extensions. All extensions are optional; the troublemaker might not be obvious from its name.
Any improvement?
(3) You can search for remaining issues with the scanning/cleaning tools listed in this support article: Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware. These on-demand scanners are free and take considerable time to run. If they finish quickly and especially if they require payment, you may have a serious infection. I suggest the specialized forums listed in the article in that case.
Hopefully that will flush anything on your system and in your Firefox that could be sharing your phone number.
How would go to windows or Mozilla Firefox to make sure my cell phone is not listed?
