When I reply, the cursor defaults below original quote but I would like it above
I just updated to window 10, and since, the cursor defaults to below the email I am responding to, but it used to default to above the message. I want to change back to default cursor to above the message.

Windows 10 updates are unfortunately known to break things, but you could try checking the setting in Thunderbird - see the Reply above or below quoted text article for info.
