How to remove a bookmark directly from the URLs dropdown list?

I would like to delete a bookmark when I type on the URL bar (the starred items of the dropdown), without visiting the website or using the bookmarks manager.

Choosing the bookmark and pressing "Delete" does not work. The bookmark stands there on a new search.

Is that possible? Thanks.

Note: Windows users should download the ActiveX for Internet Explorer. and the plugin for Plugin-based browsers (like Firefox).

Note: Windows 8 and Windows 10 have built-in flash players and Adobe will cause a conflict. Install the plugin only. Not the ActiveX.

The address bar is also a search bar. Entering something triggers the search.

Type about:preferences#privacy<enter> in the address bar. At the bottom of the page, find Location Bar.

You can turn these on/off.

Maybe it helps if you remove that link from the history to reset the visit count. Bookmarked items have a star next to them in the drop-down list and can't be removed permanently like is possible with regular visit items unless you delete this bookmark or change the location bar suggestion settings like posted above.
