i am trying to edit my 1and1 MyWebsite but when it opens in a new tab from within the 1and 1 control panel a dialog appears in the centre of the screen suggesting that i am in private browsing mode. I do not have private browsing enabled which I understand is obvious by the 'spectacles' icon and purple colour scheme.

1and1 internet support have been extremely unhelpful and negative towards the use of firefox to the point that their parrot suggestion has been that I should use another browser i.e. Google Chrome. Their support help pages are also seriously out of date and suggest they support firefox v35.

Any help would be appreciated.

Well if they don't update their support page or are being unhelpful to your website issue there isn't much FF can do since this is FF end user forum and can't resolve a site issue. If their site supports a certain Browser then you will have to use that Browser in order to do what you need to do on that site. Otherwise you might have to choose a site that isn't so outdated or lacking in support.
