IEverytime I open Firefox another tab opens up that I did not request from an RU (Russia) country code. Is this some sort of spyware?

What is in the unwanted tab/window? A website, an ad . . . .

Type about:config<enter> in the address bar. If a warning screen comes up, press the I Accept the Risk button. At the top of the screen is a search bar. Type browser.startup.homepage
