Threaded view auto expands when switching folders

Hi! I'm having this issue that when I switch folders in Thunderbird, using threaded view, the threads always expand, even when there are no new messages. I always leave the threads collapsed, but when I change folders (this is using an IMAP account), the settings seems to be forgotten. Any help? Maybe some hidden setting in about:config I can tweak? Thanks!

when you have a message in the folder selected to be sure it has the focus. Press the key on your keyboard for \

That should set the default to collapsed. * set it to expanded.
