sidebar needs reopened each time I open firefox

I have my bookmarks set as my sidebar. But for some reason it has stopped saving this, and I need to reopen my sidebar manually each time I open firefox. Any ideas what the problem could be?

If the Bookmarks Sidebar is open when you close Firefox, the Bookmarks Sidebar should be open the next time you launch Firefox.

The xulstore.json file, in the Profile folder, is what holds the UI preferences; there is probably a fault in that file when it doesn't save a preference like that.

To "fix" it - with Firefox closed delete that file and then when Firefox is launched a new xulstore.json file will be created. But, you'll need to re-do all your UI customizations.
