Delete pop-out message doesn't work with outlook.live.com

When using newer versions of Firefox with the new outlook.live.com and reading a message in a pop-out window, the "delete" message button doesn't work. The message closes as if it is deleted but it is not removed from the inbox.

This has been reproduced using Firefox on several different Windows 7 and 10 computers.

The delete function works properly with other browsers.

Microsoft support says this is a browser issue. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

Thanks.

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache. Note: This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to. To clear cache and cookies do the following:

  1. (Firefox 57 and above) Click the Library button 57 library icon and choose History.
(Click the menu button New Fx Menu and choose History in older Firefox versions.)
  2. In the History menu, choose "Clear Recent History...".
  3. Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
  4. Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
  5. From the details list, check Cache and Cookies and uncheck everything else.
  6. Now click the "Clear Now" button.

Further information can be found in the Delete browsing, search and download history on Firefox article.

Hi, thanks for the reply. This doesn't resolve the problem. As mentioned, I've tried this on multiple computers, including one with a fresh install of Firefox.

There are other things that need attention.

The System Details list shows an outdated Flash plugin.

  • Shockwave Flash 27.0 r0

You can find details like installation path on the about:plugins page.

You can download the latest NPAPI Flash plugin for Firefox on this page.

Thanks, updated Flash but it didn't help.

Can you try to reproduce the issue?

-Login to outlook.com -Double click an email message into a pop-out window -Click "Delete"

The window closes but the message does not delete.

I would recommend you use IE for outlook it's has better integration with IE as oppose with FF. My work removed FF because it couldn't load all the feature that is needed.

I'm seeing some puzzling behavior... I think it worked once and failed all the other times I tried.

The Delete button generates these warnings in Firefox's Browser Console:

I don't know why a script from Office365.com needs to run in a popup window on live.com, but possibly that is an issue. I don't have any other leads, and I don't have a workaround (or than to delete using the buttons in the Inbox/Reading Pane).

You can try to create a cookie "Allow for Session" exception for specific third-party domains to prevent such errors. As a test you can temporarily enable all third-party cookies to see what domains are involved.
