Thunderbird + Protonmail + Mac OS Stuck Spinning and Other Issues

I just installed Thunderbird with ProtonMail Bridge and I have several issue: - The app is very slow, it gets stuck loading with the beach wheel spinning for dozens of minutes. - In that case I may not be able to do anything like opening, moving or categorizing emails. For example I can categorize an email as junk and a few seconds later the flame icon will revert to being unchecked. - Sometimes I see this is because it is stuck downloading emails. Other times it is just happening when I am browsing folders or moving emails.

I have tried several fixes found on this forum like starting in safe mode, changing the synchronization settings, but none has worked. I also don't think it is an issue with an antivirus because I don't have one, neither with the Bridge app that encrypts emails because I have tried to work with Apple Mail and I don't have all these issues. Emails are downloaded very fast upon opening without waiting time.

can you get and send mail using Thunderbird and a normal mail account? My suspicion is that proton mails bridge is buggy. But some trails are needed like send and receive using normal mail to determine where the slug festival is occurring.

Thank you. Yes I can send and receive email with my Proton account using Thunderbird.

so it is not slow if you take this proton mail bridge out of the picture? is that the case?

Yes indeed. I don't have the same issues using an outlook account. The emails update quite fast, and I can create folders and move them around. And by the way it seems like now Apple Mail goes through the same problems as Thunderbird.
