My hard drive crashed, installed new hard drive W/Windows 10 and latest version of Thunderbird. Geek Squad was able to save my contacts from my address book to a file. They saved all my contacts in a Windows file, as Windows.contacts ( .contacts ext ). Is there a way to convert contacts and add to my new Thunderbird address book?

Click the Start button and type contacts, then click on the Contacts entry under Folders. This should open C:\Users\username\Contacts in File Explorer. Copy all your .contact files into the folder, select all of them, then Export, choose vCards. To import the vCards to TB, follow the instructions here, using MoreFunctionsForAddressBook:
