why don't the pages load when I click on the links saved in my favorites?
I run a computer on Windows XP. I have been hesitant to update my version of Firefox because of this problem. My last, fully functional, version of Firefox was version 42.0.x and I have just updated to version 52.9.0 (32-bit). if you need further information about my computer or anything else related to this issue please do not hesitate to ask.
My bookmarks menu drops down just fine, I have links in my Bookmarks Toolbar, and all links are very functional. I click on my Bookmarks menu and go to any link saved in my favorites then click the link nothing happens. The same thing goes for the links in my Bookmarks Toolbar. The only way I can get any links to work is to click and drag them into a new tab. This is not how a web browser should function. Can anyone please help me?

I went through each of my add-ons, testing each one after disabling them one at a time, to figure out which one it was that was causing the problem. It turned out to be the add-on "Tab Utilities." Thirdly, I consider this problem solved.

Note that the System Details you provided indicate you run a special funnelcake Firefox version (update channel: esr-cck-mozilla-EMEfree).
Funnelcake builds are an experiment offered as a special Firefox version to (new) users for testing the user experience.
