I created my own filter to sort mails by creating a long list of "Move message to folder if From =" rules. At some point, now Thurderbird cannot edit these settings, simply because Thunderbird locks up if I open Filter Rules for this filter, otherwise I could split it into multiple filters.

Is there any way I can edit this filter in text, or fix this issue?

When you have a 'From + is' type rule, it's often easier to change it to From + is in my address book, and then specify the address book, which can be a custom address book that contains just those contacts to which the filter is applied. Then, when you wish to add another contact to the filter, it's sufficient to add it to the custom address book, instead of adding another From line to the filter.
