How do I configure Thunderbird so it will print a long (multipage) email which it "thinks" is just one page long?
I think in order for you to see this problem I would need to forward the latest message of which Thunderbird will only print the first page to whoever wants to try to look into this problem. Send me an email address and I'll forward that message right away.
This is not a new problem with Thunderbird, which I've been using for years.

Please try the info supplied by sfhowes regarding: Standard printer diagnostic: open Menu icon orTools/Options/Advanced/General/Config. editor, right-click the print_printer preference, Reset, OK to close Options, restart TB. Reset all the printer_ preferences for the specific printer if the first reset doesn't help.

Right click on email and select 'Print Preview' Does all text appear correctly; not too small as if trying to get everything on one page by shrinking text?
What is the 'Scale' setting? Does it indicate there are several pages ? eg: Page 1 of 3
When you click on 'Print' it should open the Print Properties of the default printer. What does it say under 'Print Range'? Is 'All' select ? This should be selected. Or is 'Pages' select and it only says from 1 to 1 ?
Using Print Preview: All that displays is the first page with the text at normal size.
Scale Setting is 100%. It indicates Page 1 of 1.
My printer is a Brother HL-L2340D. The Printer Properties does not have a Print Range setting.
Menu icon > Options > Advanced' > 'General' tab click on 'Config Editor' button
In search type: print_paper What have you got as the Value for the following:
- print.printer_Brother_HL-L2340D_series.print_paper_height
- print.printer_Brother_HL-L2340D_series.print_paper_width
- print.printer_Brother_HL-L2340D_series.print_paper_data
Set the height as: 11.00 Set width as: 8.50 Set data as: 9
click on all 'OK'
Select email and choose the 'Print Preview' is there any difference?
Modified
Thank you for continuing to work on this problem. The configure settings for Brother HL-L2340D_series_print as found were: Height: 11, Width: 8.5, data: 1. So I changed data to 9. Closed and re-launched Thunderbird. Problem still exists. Shut down, then restarted my PC. Problem still exists. So I went back in the config editor and confirmed that the data setting for the Brother HL-L2340D was still 9.
I hope you won't give up.

Test:
- Right click on email with known print issue and select 'Print Preview'
Scale: Select 'Shrink to fit' and 'Portrait' Did this make any difference to the number of pages?
Test: Start Thunderbird in 'Safe Mode' and see if you get same issue when you do Print Preview of an email. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/safe-mode-thunderbird#w_how-to-start-thunderbird-in-safe-mode Report back on results.
Please post image of the following:
- Right click on email with known print issue and select 'Print Preview'
- click on 'Print' and a new window opens.
- Move that 'Print' window so it is just below the 'Print Preview' toolbar and covers the email contents as much as possible.
- On keyboard, Click on 'Prt Scr' key to get a screendump.
- Open 'Paint' program.
- Right click in the Paint window and select 'Paste'.
- Select the area which includes the 'Print Preview' toolbar and the 'Print window', then select 'Crop'.
- If necessary you can use the 'eraser' to remove parts of the email content for privacy reasons.
- Then save as a jpg file to your eg: desktop.
In this forum question, add some text in a 'Post a Reply' text box saying something like 'Image below shows print preview etc window' click on 'Browse' and select the saved jpg image on desktop and click on 'Open'. click on 'Post a Reply' button .
Test:
almost repeat the above but this time do it exactly as instructed below.
In Thunderbird
Help > Troubleshooting Information
click on 'Send via Email' button
this opens a new Write message with all the data included which should be several pages. File > Print Preview Then do the same as before to get an image showing Print Preview toolbar and 'Print' window. Post the image.
Provide info:

I have just sent a sample long email of which my Thunderbird will only print the first page.
When I opened the copy of that email that I sent to myself, my Thunderbird would still only print the first page.
I've also received your second post with all its instructions and will act on it today.

Received email and it works fine with me. There are 7 pages in total. So it has nothing to do with the actual email itself.
In your previous post you mentioned my email address. Could you edit that comment to remove the email address as spammers could trawl through public forum and get the email address. Thanks.
What happens if you choose (in Win10) 'Microsoft print to PDF' in the File/Print... dialog - does it still preview or print just the first page? File/Save As/File, Save as type: HTML, then open in browser - does it still preview or print just the first page?

Since I have another PC on which I recently installed Thunderbird, I decided to try looking at the "long email" I sent to you. There was no problem opening that message and being able to view all seven pages in Print Preview.
Based on this I think I should copy the profile onto a flash drive, then un-install Thunderbird, then download the latest version from the website. Install my profile and see what happens.
I won't do anything until I hear back from Toad-Hall in case you want to continue with the troubleshooting, in which case I would proceed with the directions in your email, sent this morning.

Thank you to both of you. It took resetting all the printer_printer preferences for the printer I'm using. Now I can print the entire "long email" whereas before all I could print was the first page.
