not responding often
Using Thunderbird Version 60.6.1: Windows 10 using Bitdefender but has email checking off. Thunderbird has been getting not responding message often but always eventually recovers. Help?

Besides email scanning, you might have to disable BD's scanning of SSL connections if your mail accounts use SSL settings.

Am using Bidefender 2019 and can't find how to disable SSL scanning
Disabling the two bitdefender scans did not work. Bitdefender has provided solution which involves changing Thunderbirds checking of Bitdefender security certificates.
