In order to logon to a specific website, I must delete session.checkpoints.json

I am trying to logon to my retiree website at Volkswagen and sometimes the Firefox just sits and does nothing like it's trying to logon but cannot (the dot in the tab moves left and right). I cancel Firefox and run CCleaner which deletes a specific file that is created by Firefox. The file is session.checkpoints.json. After doing so, I am able to logon without any difficulty. This occurs about 1 out of every 3 to 4 logon attempts. Sometimes I am able to logon and sometimes I am unable due to this occurrence.

I have called the support group at VWGoA and they have run traces but when this occurs, it's like I'm not even sending them anything?

What causes this?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache.

Warning ! ! This will log you out of sites you're logged in to. You may also lose any settings for that website.

If there is still a problem, Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Did this help?

While you are in safe mode;

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration in Firefox. Since this feature was added to Firefox it has gradually improved but there are still a few glitches.

Thanks for the reply. I have tried to clear cache on several occasions (when the problem occurs) and it did not solve the problem. As per your suggestion I have disabled hardware acceleration. I was able to get into the site, however that occurred in the past. I will need to see over the long haul if this provides the solution.

Clearing cookies does not help the problem either. The only 100% solution when the problem occurs is to delete the indicated file. Then logon to the site and all is good.

I have not tried to logon using safe mode when the problem occurs, that I will have to try when the issue returns.

Thanks,

Schundg

cor-el, Thank you for your reply. I am sorry but I am unable to follow your instructions. I am a bit of a novice when it comes to Firefox internals. If possible, could you please tell me exactly what you would like to see along with instructions to post it.

Thank you!
