How do I disable my internet safety software? I am stuck in restricted mode on YouTube.
I am stuck in restricted mode, I never turned it on in the first place. I have tried all suggested things brought up by YouTube's help center posts, except this part below, since I'm not sure how I'm supposed to do it: "If you’ve entered your username and password, and Restricted Mode remains on, try contacting your system administrator for additional assistance." To clarify, I have tried all combinations of turning restricted mode on/off and logging out afterwards.

Try clearing your cookies and site data in Firefox. That's how YouTube saves this particular setting on Firefox, so clearing that should refresh it for you.
Their tip about contacting your system administrator really only applies if you are using a computer that is managed by someone else or are logging into a Google account attached to a school or organization.
As for the security software, I can't say I've ever heard of these kinds of programs locking restricted mode on YouTube, although I suppose it's possible. The steps for disabling your software and adding an exception will depend entirely on what antivirus software you are running.
Hope this helps.
